93 photos of 48 preserved steam locos seen during a visit to Colorado in 2008. Some were operational, others preserved as static exhibits. Standard and narrow gauge locos are included. They are grouped by railroad, otherwise by builder.

andrewstransport > Chicago & North Western 444, Forney Transport Museum, Denver,  Colorado, 13 September 2008 1     R-1 Ten Wheeler / 4-6-0 built by Alco in 1906, works no 38526.    Unfortunately the museum is so cramped that only detail shots of the loco were possible.

andrewstransport > Colorado & Southern 9, Silver Plume, Colorado, 10 September 2008 1   Three foot gauge Mogul / 2-6-0 built in 1884 by Cooke for the Denver, South Park & Pacific RR (No 72), and now based on the Georgetown Loop Railroad.

andrewstransport > Colorado & Southern 641, Leadville, Colorado, 9 September 2008 1    Standard gauge Consolidation / 2-8-0 built by Alco in 1906, works no 40268.  No 641 worked on the  10.000 ft high Leadville - Climax line until 11 October 1962, making it the last standard gauge steam loco to work on a class 1 US railroad.

andrewstransport > Denver & Rio Grande Western 168, Colorado Springs, Colorado, 1 September 2008      Three foot gauge T-12 Ten Wheeler / 4-6-0 built in 1883 by Baldwin, works no 6670, for the Denver & Rio Grande.  Withdrawn in 1938.
andrewstransport > Denver & Rio Grande Western 169, Alamosa, Colorado, 5 September 2008 1    Another Denver & Rio Grande 3 ft gauge T-12 Ten Wheeler 4-6-0 built in 1883 by Baldwin, works no 7028.  Withdrawn in 1941.

andrewstransport > Denver & Rio Grande Western 268, Gunnison, Colorado, 9 September 2008    Three foot gauge C-16 Consolidation / 2-8-0, built by Baldwin in 1882, works no 6002.  The 'bumble bee' colours were applied in 1951 when 268 starred in the film 'Denver & Rio Grande', and were a version of DRGW's contemporary diesel livery.
