Achensee Railway, Austria, 2006
The Achensee Railway (Achenseebahn) is in western Austria, where it runs from Jenbach to Lake Achen. It is metre gauge, and a little over four miles long. Its lower section uses the Riggenbach rack system from Jenbach to Eben. There, locos run round and haul trains over the adhesion section to Lake Achen. The railway runs only in summer. Jenbach is also the starting point for the 760mm Zillertal Railway to Mayrhofen. As Jenbach is on the standard gauge main line from Innsbruck to Salzburg, it has the rare distinction of being served by trains of three different gauges.
