Ampflwang heritage railway centre, Austria, 2006
53 photos of steam locos at the Austrian Society for Railway History's (OeGEG) very impressive heritage railway centre, It occupies a colliery site at the end of a branch from Timelkam, on the main line between Linz and Salzburg. A vey large semi-roundhouse and other buildings were built as recently as 2005. Most of the steam locos are standard Austrian and German types, some built in Romania. Ampflwang also has a number of Austrian electric and diesel locos, but most were not accessible at the time of my visit.

Ampflwang, 25 June 2006 1 Welcome to Ampflwang! Here are three shots of the Austrian Society for Railway History's (OGEG) very extensive site, formerly a colliery. This north westerly view shows the semi-roundhouse built in 2005 in the left distance. A line of unidentified diesels and electrics is at right. Also unidentified is the loco in the foreground.
