de Havilland DH.88 Comet G-ACSS Grosvenor House, Shuttleworth Collection, Old Warden, Bedfordshire, 30 December 2012 1. G-ACSS was built in 1934 to compete in the Mildenhall - Melbourne MacRobertson Air Race. It won, covering the 11,000 miles to Australia in 70 hours and 55 minutes. Four other DH.88s were built, of which a second survives.
