de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito FB.26 KA114 / EG-Y, Military Aviation Museum, Virginia Veach, Virginia, 19 May 2017 1. This aircraft was built by de Havilland Canada in 1945 but never saw action. It was bought by the museum in 2005 and underwent an eight year restoration to flying condtion in New Zealand. A completely new wooden airframe had to be built, though most of the metal parts were reused. Here it is taking off for a short flight on the arrivals and practice day for the the MAM's 'Wings over the beach' airshow. At the time of these photos only two other Mosquitos were airworthy, in the USA and Canada.
