Hawker Siddeley Harrier XV741, Brooklands Museum, Weybridge, 14 June 2019. To mark the 50th anniversary of Alcock & Brown's pioneering transatlanntic flight, races were held in 1969 between central London and central New York. The westbound crossing was won in 6 hours 11 minutes by this Harrier, now displayed next to the Vimy replica. The eastbound crossing was won by an RAF Phantom in 5 hours 11 minutes. Competitors using scheduled services made the westbound crossing in 8 hours 4 minutes, and eastbound in 6 hours 48 minutes.
