Approaching Tinja, between Mramor and Srebrenik, Bosnia-Hercegovina, Tues 10 June 2014 - 1119. Here are six photos taken as we passed Tinja. This one looks back (south) towards Tuzla as our charter heads north. It is running on the 'Youth Railway' built by volunteers just after the Second World War from Brcko to Banovici so that Banovici coal could supply Serbia. The single track line is 92km long and was completed in 190 days in the summer of 1946. At Brcko, the Youth Railway connected with a branch from Vinkovci, on the Zagreb - Belgrade main line. The line to Vinkovci still exists. It carries no passenger traffic. I am not sure how much freight it carries, but I assume that the presence of staff means that there is some.
