Stockton & Darlington Rly No 25 Derwent, Darlington North Road, 15 November 2009 1 Derwent was a member of a class designed by Timothy Hackworth, and was built by Kitchings of Darlington in 1845. Despite appearances, Derwent has a return multi-tubular flue boiler, so the smokebox and chimney are at the firebox end of the loco. Hence the need for two tenders, for coal (nearest the camera) and for water, beyond the loco.
