Cranmore West halt, 6 September 2017. Looking west, towards Mendip Vale. Preservation started at Cranmore when wildlife artist David Shepherd needed a home for 75029 and 92203. He bought land at what is now Cranmore West and established a depot. An engine shed was built and the ESR opened in 1975, initally offering brake van rides behind the two locos. The platform came from Ilton halt, on the closed Taunton - Chard line. All the buildings at Cranmore West are new.
