LMS 0-6-0 7069, Toddington, 31 May 2006. This is an important diesel pioneer. It is the only survivor from a batch of 11 built 1934 - 1935 by English Electric and Hawthorn Leslie. Fitted with an English Electric 350hp engine and electrical transmission rather than jackshaft drive, they were direct forerunners of the classic 08 shunter. Three of these locos entered BR stock as 12000-12002, but all had been scrapped by 1962. The others went overseas during World War 2, and 7069 survived to be repatriated from France.
