LNER BGP 70361, Haverthwaite, 21 May 2006. This pigeon van was built at York in 1936. During the 1939 - 1945 War it was converted for use as ward car 2704 in US Army hospital train No 27. The train including car 2704 served in France and Germany in 1944 - 1945. The van subsequently returned to the LNER, and in 1970 went to the Lakeside & Haverthwaite, where it stayed until 2009. It was acquired by Railway Vehicle Preservations, who restored it as ward car 2704 in 2018 at the Great Central Railway.
