Timothy Hackworth's house, Locomotion, National Railway Museum, Shildon, Mon 8 October 2012. Hackworth became resident engineer on the Stockton & Darlington in 1825, shortly before it opened. The company built this house for him. He was responsible for persuading the S & D to persevere with steam traction as Locomotion No 1 and George Stephenson's other locos were unrelaible.
