Welcome to the Launceston Steam Railway! 8 September 2017. The line runs for roughly 2.5 miles along the trackbed of the Southern's North Cornwall line from Okehampton to Halwill Junction (for Bude), Wadebridge and Padstow. Gauge is 1 foot 11.5 inches. Four quarry Hunslet locos now run where T9 4-4-0s, Maunsell 2-6-0s and unrebuilt Bulleid Pacifics used to work. including hauling the Padstow portion of the Atlantic Coast Express (dep Waterloo 1100, due Launceston 1605). Launceston was also served by a Great Western branch from Plymouth via Tavistock. The Southern and GW stations and goods yards both used to be east of the overbridge in the distance.
