36 photos of the National Trust's important industrial railway collection at Penrhyn Castle, near Bangor, north Wales. Many exhibits are from the north Wales slate lines, but five locos have come from further afield.
Pen-yr-Orsedd quarry wagon No 41, Penrhyn Castle, Mon 22 August 2011. 3ft 6in gauge wagon used on the Nantlle Rly between Tal-y-Sarn and Pen-yr-Orsedd quarry. It opened in 1828 and closed in 1963 and was worked by horses, latterly by tractors. The wagon wheels are double-flanged and loose on their axles. The track is a reconstruction of the 1828 original, with iron fish-belly rails in cast iron blocks on stone sleepers.
