45231 The Sherwood Forester, 5Z31, Hest Bank Thurs 12 May 2011 - 1535. The Black 5 returns to Carnforth with support coach 99241 from a test run via Hellifield, Blackburn and Preston. Despite the test run on 29 April it had disgraced itself on the 7th when it and/or its support coach ran hot near Plumpton in the course of a Carnforth - Thornton move. It limped into Carlisle at 15mph, badly delaying following trains. It returned to Carnforth very early on the 9th. After the test run seen here, 45231 ran to Stirling on the 13th to meet 61994 from Thornton. The pair then worked a Scottish RPS Polmont - Fort William tour on the 14th - a convenient way of getting them into position for the start of the Jacobite season.
