70000 Britannia T&T D1935 (47805) Roger Hosking MA, 1Z70, Blea Moor, Wed 19 August 2020 1 - 1137. Statesman's 0750 Crewe - Carlisle Fellsman. The ten coaches were reported as 35451, 3125, 3148, 80044, 3122, 3045, 1211, 3348, 3344 & 3426, the same as used on the Lakelander on the 15th. Britannia was carrying a wreath and whistling a lot in memory of Loco Services' Keith Kellett, who had died o the 16th. It also remembered WCRC fireman Mike Middleton, who had collapsed and died near Ais Gill the previous day on the footplate of 46115 Scots Guardsman as it was hauling the return leg of the Dalesman to York. Unfortunately 70000 failed at Upperby. D1935 took the train back to Crewe. D8107 was scrambled from Appleby, where it had been on standby, and towed Britannia to Crewe via the WCML, arriving at Crewe 0105 Thurs.
