Former Carnforth locos, Heilbronn, Germany, 2006
In the 1970s Carnforth Steamtown in north Lancashire, England, became home to three continental steam locos. In about 2000 they made their way to the South German Rly Museum (Suddeutsches Eisenbahnmuseum) at Heilbronn. Here are 16 photos of the locos at Carnforth and Heilbronn. 012 104-6 was returned to steam on 10 June 2023 by Faszination Dampf.

SNCF 4-6-2 231 K 22, Carnforth Steamtown, 9 June 1973. The French Pacific is a four cylinder compound. It was built in 1916 by Chantiers de la Loire for the Paris Lyons Mediterranean Rly, and rebuilt in 1948. It finished its career at Calais on the SNCF's Northern region. It was one of the last steam locos to haul the Golder Arrow (Fleche d'Or) between Amiens and Calais. It came to Carnforth in 1970. Photo by Les Tindall.
