South Clare railtour, 2012
35 photos of the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland's ill-fated railtour to Ennis. The three day tour took in the newly reopened Athenry - Ennis line. It was due to be worked throughout by newly overhauled Dublin & South Eastern Rly 2-6-0 No 461, but it had had problems on a railtour the previous weekend so had to be replaced. Diesel No 230 worked the tour from Dublin to Athlone. Great Southern & Western 0-6-0 No 186 then took over to Ennis. It continued the following day via Limerick and Nenagh to Ballybrophy, where No 230 took over again to Dublin. On the following day No 461 attempted to work the Dublin - Whitehead leg, but it ran warm and the tour had to be terminated at Dundalk.
