British locos preserved in Japan, 2019
45 photos of eight steam locos and one electric preserved in museums at Omiya and Ome (both in greater Tokyo), Kaya (near Kyoto) and Kyoto. The huge Omiya and Kyoto museums opened in 2007 and 2016 and are enormously impressive.

No 1, Omiya Railway Museum, western Tokyo, 23 March 2019 1. Vulcan Foundry 2-4-0T 614 / 1871 worked on Japan's first railway, between Tokyo and Yokohama, which opened in 1872. It was one of ten 2-4-0T imported from Britain for the line's opening. Others were supplied by Avonside, Dubs, Sharp Stewart and Yorkshire Engine Co. The Yorkshire Engine Co loco survives at Ome Railway Museum and is seen later in this album.
