Looking east over the Carlisle goods lines, 10 October 2009 - 1714.55 This viewpoint is at roughly milepost 68.75, significant because it subsequently became clear that Tornado's crew were trying to take their 13 coach, 490 ton train over Shap summit at 60mph, and this is the first in a series of shots recording their progress. The through goods lines at right come from Upperby Bridge Junction on the WCML. They meet at Bog Junction (behind the camera) with the Newcastle goods lines at centre from London Road Junction, which carry traffic from the Hexham and Settle lines. The right hand line of the pair at left is the down and up Newcastle from London Road Junction to the station. The line at far left is a shunt neck.
