Quintinshill loops, Mon 21 June 2010 - 1737. Looking south. This is the scene of Britain's worst ever railway accident. It took place in 1915, when signalmen's carelessness led to a double collision, which was followed by a fire which spread to goods trains in the loops. At least 226 people were killed and 246 injured.
