Chatham historic dockyard, 2012: Small craft and submarines
27 photos of the former royal dockyard. It built and maintained Royal navy warships for 400 years, from the age of sail to the age of the submarine until closure in 1984. It occupies an 80 acre site, on which many buildings date from the 18th century. Nelson's Victory was built here in 1765. The last Royal Navy warship built at Chatham was the submarine Ocelot (1964), now preserved in the dockyard

John H Amos, Chatham, May 2003. Paddle tug built for service on the River Tees as late as 1931. The first steps towards eventual restoration were taken in 2008. She was still at Chatham in 2012, but not publicly accessible.
