Hotchkiss H35 light tank, Narvik war museum, 24 July 2015 1. France built about 1200 of these tanks between 1936 and the German invasion in 1940. Most received a 1939 modification with a more powerful 37mm gun. This is one of about 15 brought to Narvik by the French in April 1940. Most were evacuated to Britain in June. This one may have been left behind because it was damaged. It was probably used by the Germans after they occupied Norway. It is now one of only nine tanks of this type to survive.
